Figured I’d post up on my filled engine mounts. A few more days of drying before they get installed, but I’m hoping they do the trick:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I know they’re not pretty, going for function in this instance. So long as they function, they look perfect. ;)

“Not pretty, but functional” seems appropriate for a hot-rodded Voyager.

Are you using nutella for engine mounts? I need to know so I can buy some stock in it if so

3M Window Weld Urethane.

Once it dries, they’ll be solid mounts.

ummm

Bonds replacement auto glass to car bodies. Thick bondline may allow some non-structural body panel applications.

I think it might not work as you expect it... unless you are attaching auto glass to this engine mount.

Researched doing solid mounts a lot before doing this. This is the recommended tool for the job.

People have been using it for many years to make solid mounts.

I’ve done a less-messy but similar method on several cars. Usually I just fill the voids in stock mounts, but I did have to re-cast the entire rubber portion of a Celica AllTrac rear diff mount in urethane once. I usually use a two part mix urethane casting kit from McMaster, but it’s pretty much the same stuff. Works great.

I basically just filled the voids, then smoothed it over the face.

Gotcha. You’ll be pretty happy with how it ends up, as long as you don’t mind a little extra NVH

Let us know what you think. Most people throughout the inter webs seem to like the outcome of filling stock mounts with urethane.

My last build would completely destroy mounts, even poly filled. I ended up making aluminum inserts instead. I loved the direct/raw feeling and in reality, the added vibration wasn’t that noticeable.

It’s a quick drying Urethane. It seems to be the go to for making solid mounts.

I had solid aluminum mounts on my last build, after I got sick of destroying even filled mounts, so I’m sure the little extra won’t even be noticeable as even the solid aluminum mounts weren’t very noticeable.
